0844 numbers are basically non-geographic numbers mapped to your landline or mobile phone depending upon your requirements. This mapping location i.e. your landline number or mobile phone number can be changed whenever you want with out charges. The caller on the 0844 number will be charged a flat fee of say 5 pence + VAT per minute and that the calling entity that is the receiver will be charged zero pence for receiving calls.
